Simon at 6 Months

Happy half-birthday to our big, little guy!

Today Simon turns 6 months old. We can hardly believe we've had Simon in our lives for 6 months. It seems like such a short time. But then again, we can hardly remember our lives without him. Mark and I are having a great time getting to know and raising our little man.

Simon will have his 6-month checkup tomorrow so I'll wait to give the stats until then but for now, here is a picture and video update of the past month...

Simon's two teeth are coming in nicely and he is putting them to good use. He LOVES food. He started fruits and veggies earlier this month and we've decided we'll have to ask the doctor to check to see if he has taste buds. No matter what we give him, anything from apples to peas he has the same reaction. This tastes good. I want more.

As for milestones, Simon is working on crawling. He hasn't quite mastered going forward but he certainly covers a lot of ground going backward and in circles.

Simon has really taken a liking to the swings at the park. They are his favorite and we try to go whenever the weather is nice.

Simon also loves bath time or as we like to call it "splash mommy time."

It has been an amazing 6 months! We can't wait to see what the next 6 months will bring.

Simon's New High Chair

Happy Belated Mother's Day to everyone!

We had an eventful weekend...

We spent Saturday at Buy Buy Baby picking out a high chair for Simon. We went with the Anka High Chair by Svan and also purchased a sippy cup and plate to complete the set.

Simon started off strong with the sippy cup but it quickly turned into something else to bite. We'll continue to work on that.

He also liked eating from high atop his new seat (but who wouldn't like oatmeal, applesauce and sweet potato?)

The rest of the weekend was a bit more relaxing with some time in the park and dinner with Mark's family. It was a very nice weekend.

Simon And The Swings

Simon visited the Prospect Park playground yesterday and tried out the swings for the first time. It was a bit of a shock at first but he eventually got the hang of it and enjoyed it.

Simon Standing

Moving forward while crawling still remains a mystery to Simon but he has figured out how to stand (at least for a few seconds). Here is a picture of our very "drooly" 5 1/2 month old standing.

Tooth Watch 2009

We are on tooth watch for Simon's first teeth of the season.

Simon had a cold and was Mr. Cranky Pants last week. It seems that this was due to two little teeth cutting through his gums. I noticed them on Monday when Simon grabbed my finger and bit down (per normal). But there was something extra this time, two hard, sharp little teeth. You can't really see them yet but you can definitely feel them.

Here is Simon at his favorite activity biting. Stay tuned for more updates...

Simon at 5 Months

Simon had an exciting weekend as he turned 5 months old. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and went to Prospect Park and Manhattan. We also took Simon to the city for the MS Walk. He did great in his stroller for over 3 hours.

When Simon isn't in his stroller these days, he is sitting up straighter and for longer periods of time. He has mastered rolling over from back to front. He is also starting to scoot a centimeter at a time. He is very determined. Simon enjoys laughing and babbling, saying "sssssss" and rolling sounds, and sticking his feet in his mouth. He is a lot of fun!

Passover, Easter and Harrisburg

We enjoyed seeing all of our relatives for the holidays last week. We enjoyed a Passover Seder with Mark's family and Easter in Harrisburg with Susan's family. Click on Simon to see pictures from our adventures last week including Simon's first Amtrak ride.
