Happy 2nd Birthday!

Sorry for the slightly belated post for Simon's 2nd birthday.

Simon turned 2 on November 19th and what better way to spend the day than to take him to the American Museum of Natural History. Once there we had to check out the dinosaurs.

Simon was completely amazed by their size. He loved looking at the gigantic dinosaurs but also loved the small dinosaurs on display as well. It was such a fun day.

Then, on November 21st, we held a party for Simon at the Hootenanny Art House in Park Slope. Simon had a great time with lots of his friends and family there. We also had a singalong with Pete Sinjin. It was a great time.

It was a great birthday weekend! We are looking forward to the Terrific Twos!

"How Do Dinosaurs Eat their Food?"

This is a video for the grandparents (although others can watch too - it's just really long).

Here is Simon reciting one of his favorite books "How Do Dinosaurs Eat their Food?"

I think the irony of the book might be lost on him but he enjoys looking at the pictures of the dinosaurs and of course the food.

It's Fall. Time for Apple Pickin'

This past weekend we had a wonderful fall experience and went apple picking at Terhune Orchards outside Princeton, NJ. We went with our friends Mike and Sari and their little girl, Leila and had a fantastic time.

Simon did a little more apple eating than picking but it was a great time nonetheless. Click on Simon to see more pictures from our adventure.

It's been a FUN Summer!

We have had a blast this summer. Along with enjoying the park and sprinklers, we have hosted pool parties, gone on outings, and visited friends and family. Here are some highlights...

Simon and his friends enjoyed our roof deck baby pool. Apparently the water was refreshing and delicious.

We visited:
the Prospect Park Zoo

the Brooklyn Children's Museum

and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden (where Simon took some time to stop and smell, er taste, the roses )

We enjoyed a trip to Harrisburg to see Grandma and Grandpa. While there, we visited Dutch Wonderland.

And Simon even rode Duke's Dozers by himself (at least 5 times)

And we just returned from a trip visiting our new friend Maya

It has been a busy summer. We can't wait for fall!

The Beach is fun!

We recently returned from our 2nd annual family trip to Fenwick Island, Delaware.

We had a fantastic time enjoying the sun, sand and water. Click on Simon to see more pictures from our trip...

GUITAR!!!

Simon is really enjoying our music classes and has recently become obsessed with guitars. Everything is a guitar, the TV remote, the telephone, and of course our Wii Guitar Hero controller.

This past Saturday, I found the perfect guitar for Simon, a ukulele.

Here is Simon showing off his skills!

The Sprinklers are ON!

At (almost) 19 months, Simon is really starting to enjoy the sprinklers at the playground. Today he even decided to go in fully clothed to get a drink. Here are some pictures and a short video of Simon's refreshing morning.

Ready for the Summer

Simon is getting ready for summer. He is starting to enjoy the sprinklers at the park - or at least the puddles they create.

Here he is cooling off "Simon Style."

18 Months is "Awesome"

Last week we visited Grandma and Grandpa in Harrisburg. Simon had an especially great time as he turned 18 months. We marked the occasion with cupcakes. And Grandma and Grandpa gave Simon a tricycle. He rode it as often as he could (literally from sunup till sundown). We also enjoyed an afternoon at Hershey Park.

In Simon's words, it was "awesome!"

Simon's Buddy

We recently went to the zoo with Simon's buddy, Noah (and Noah's mom). It was a blast. The boys loved watching the monkeys - and the monkey's loved watching them.

The visit must have made an impression on Simon because when we got home, he had lots to say...

I am pretty sure that "No-ah" has become one of Simon's favorite words because it includes Simon's other favorite word "NO."

Sorry we've been away for so long!

Has it really been a month since my last post?! Sorry folks! These beautiful spring days have meant less indoor time and less blogging.

What's happened in the last month...

We've spent a lot of time at Prospect Park. Both at the park...

And on the playground.

We had a visit from Grandma and Grandpa.

We celebrated Passover and Easter...

We celebrated mommy's 33rd birthday with delicious treats.

And even went to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

It's been a busy month!

Cleaning Up at the Park

Simon and I enjoyed a walk through Prospect Park today. On our walk, Simon had the idea that he should help cleanup. Along the way he spotted all sorts of interesting items - broken sticks, dead leaves and acorns and carried them to the trashcans. We found 8 trashcans and into each one he added a new little item. It was an interesting afternoon.

Simon is Learning his Colors

Simon has recently started to figure out his colors. Blue, purple and orange are his favorites now along with green and red (and occasionally yellow). Here he is pointing them out.

A "Good Day" at the Zoo (Simon at 15 months)

Simon recently recovered from his first ear infection. He is feeling much better now and is back to his normal self. What better way to celebrate him turning a year and a quarter (15 months) than to go to the Prospect Park Zoo.

They have some great animals at the zoo but Simon was enthralled by the primates and especially loved the Golden Lion Tamarins. Here he is pointing them out to us.

After returning home, Simon explained that he had a "good day" and then regaled us with his very random vocabulary: "eyes," "hi," "nine," "no," and "duck." I have a feeling that within the next month he will learn a lot more.

Nighttime Craziness

As mentioned before, Simon loves the phone! Anything can be the phone but in this case, it was his cell phone (a non working display phone from a Verizion store). Here he is chatting it up.

Simon also loves to "startle" people by jumping out at them from behind the couch. You need sound for this one.

Simon at 14 Months

Simon is 14 months old today. Our little toddler is really enjoying the freedom of walking.

This past weekend, the weather was nice enough for us to go to the park and we took Simon to the Long Meadow. Here he is stretching his little legs as he toddles through the grass and off toward a soccer ball (and a father and son we didn't know).

While not shown above, Simon has also figured out how to stand up without pulling himself up. This makes for an amusing day of toddle, fall over, place feet and hands on the ground and then red faced lifts his body.

Simon is also quite taken with the phone and he imitates having a phone conversation using any item he can find. Here he is using his coaster-phone.

He definitely keeps us entertained!

Happy Holidays!

It was a great holiday this year with our budding walker. We visited Harrisburg and checked out the HersheyPark kiddie rides. We had fun at home with some new toys. And we enjoyed spending time with our families (eating way too much great food ).

Click on the picture of Simon to see some highlights.

Here we come 2010!
