Summer's Last Hurrah!

With Simon starting school so late, we decided to have one last vacation in and around New York City.

Our first stop was The Bronx Zoo where we saw peacocks, giraffes, gorillas, a rhino and a tiger! The baby gorillas were the most fun and cute things to see (sorry Madagascar hissing cockroaches).

Next up was Long Beach, NY. The beach was completely empty. It was windy but fun and we were able to capture our annual kids in the hole picture.

And last was an amazing adventure in Mystic, CT. We spent a few days checking out the Mystic Aquarium where we got to feed sting rays, Mystic Seaport where we checked out how boats were made, and the unplanned but equally exciting Submarine Force Museum where Simon got to sit on a giant gun.

Boys' Day Out 2013!

It's that time of the year again! Mark is ready for another boys' day out.



Today's Boys' Day Out featured...

A trip to DUMBO for Pizza

 

A walk across the Brooklyn Bridge

 Ice cream at South Street Seaport and a ferry ride back to Brooklyn



 A ride on Jane's Carousel and a quick stop to pick up chocolates for mommy!

Orlando Magic!

We just returned from a week in Orlando, FL! We had a great time with grandma and grandpa and the kids experienced a so many firsts...

Simon and Sam experienced their first plane trip

We got to hang out by the pools and the lazy river (Sam didn't love it so much but Simon had a blast)

 

We also checked out the Magic Kingdom

It was so much fun, we can't wait to go back (although ideally when we do go back we will go in the winter - even early June is too hot :)

Simon's Pre-K Career is Over!

Simon finished his last days at CBE with a wonderful "play" of Noah's Ark. Simon decided to be a vampire bat in this production (thank goodness Noah saved 2 of those :)

Hanging with Friends and the Camden Aquarium

We had a great time with our friends this past weekend who opened their house to us and fed us yummy grilled cheese!

And we also had so much fun at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ (yes, Camden).  We even got to see hippos which were amazing and HUGE!

Cherry Blossom Festival 2013

We just returned from a wonderful day at the Cherry Blossom Festival at Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
The cherry blossoms are always so beautiful and the kids were impressed too :)

Happy Easter 2013!

Easter was lots of fun complete with dying eggs, a visit from grandma and grandpa and a ride on Jane's Carousel. Oh yeah and an Easter egg hunt too!

Rocking Horse Ranch - March 2013

We just spent a great couple of days at Rocking Horse Ranch Resort for spring break this year. We had so much fun. Some of the highlights included a horse drawn carriage ride, snow tubing, indoor water park with kiddie slides, indoor bouncy house and air powered NERF cannons. And the food was pretty good too because every night they had a chocolate fountain (Simon's favorite).

Snow!

You know how it is. You spend 45 minutes putting on the snowsuit to be out in the snow for 5 minutes. Yep Sam delivered on that promise :)

Luckily, Simon enjoyed the snow a bit more.
