We've scientifically determined that Simon has at least a two-word vocabulary. Last night we were reading Simon "Good Night Moon" and got to the part about the "red balloon." Simon looked up from the book and stared straight at the ceiling where there were two balloons left over from his party!
To be sure it wasn't a fluke, this morning while Simon was playing with his toys Susan asked, "Simon, where's the balloon?" Simon looked at Susan and then looked straight up at the balloons again.
We did a similar experiment and found he also knows the word "ball."
Along with the party, Mark created an ingenious guest book where guests could sign in and take their picture using a web cam (OK I helped a little bit with the idea ) . In the future, Simon can see who came to his party. Check it out here...
We just returned from Harrisburg where on Saturday, August 22nd, Grandma Barbara and Grandpa Marvin threw Simon a great party! Since we didn't have a Bris or Christening, we had a welcoming party for Simon where he met many of his friends and relatives. Simon had a great time and loved meeting everyone. Here are some pictures from the event - a special thanks to Mark and Linda for their photography! By the way, Simon was getting tooth number 7. That's why he has his hand in his mouth for most of the pictures
So here it is, August 19th already. Has it really been 9 months? Three quarters of a year?! At this rate, November will be here before we know it. What's new in Simon's world... Simon has perfected a regular crawl. He gets around pretty quickly these days keeping me busy trailing after a precocious 9 month old (I'm sure it only gets better ).
Simon is also using anything and everything to pull up to a standing position and cruise around on the furniture.
When he actually does play with his toys, his favorites are the stacking cups, which he loves to knock down, clang together, and put one inside the other. (Note: he didn't actually stack those shown in this picture - not yet anyway ).
Simon is also growing bigger. At his 9 month checkup today, we learned that he is 30 inches tall and just shy of 23 pounds putting him in the 90 percentile for both. According to the doctor we have a "little linebacker."
We just returned on Monday from 5 days at Fenwick Island in Delaware. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. D for letting us stay at their lovely condo! Simon had a blast with Grandpa and Grandma (who turned the big 6-0). Simon also loved playing in the pool and digging in the sand.
